Anime Nebraskon has come and gone once again. We had an amazing weekend with friends new and old, closet and professional cosplays, informative and goofy panels and prehaps engaged in mischief. We at Off Kilter, were honored to provide late night entertainment to Con Attendees for another year in Nebrason's Offical Party Block. Our Studio Ghilbi themed party room included a large tree decoration, Totoro photo prop, one dozen soot spirtes, and of course themed drinks. Special thanks to Bassey Arikpo, Videographer, for capturing the magic. More of his work can be found at https://www.basseyarikpomultimedia.com/photography. We at Off Kilter support safe sex education and practices for all. The national STI rates at an all time high and we would like to help prevent the spread of STIs and unplanned pregnancies. Last year we provided free condoms at our Anime Nebraskon Party Room for those in need over the weekend festivities. This year, we're at it again. With the help of the Nebraska AIDS Project, we'll have a variety of contraption options including latex-free condom, dental dams and female condoms. We know that Nebkon is the biggest and greatest weekend of the year, and we want you to enjoy every minute of it. We just ask that you guys practice safe and consensual sex. Stop by our room at anytime or speak to any of our staff and we'll gladly provide protection to you. For free condoms any time of year or free testing visit GetCheckedOmaha. We can't wait to Nerd out with you!! It's official!
Your favorite Kommunity got the green light to host another Party Room this year! Last year taught us a lot about hosting a party room and this year we're prepared to give you everything we got. We've been planning since we left closing ceremonies last year and we know you're going to love what we have in store for you. We have a room theme, a variety of drink specials, hundreds of glowsticks, more condoms (we support safe and consensual sex), more swag, awesome lights, and a lit playlist of music. We can't wait to nerd out with you! Article by Mathis Hake (Dungeon Master)
Luck is an odd stat or ability that heroes can make use of that is not originally from either Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder. More akin to Call of Cthulhu, Luck is a resource more akin to Hit points than any other thing in our game. Who: You the party share a combined luck pool. Think of it as the fickle nature of fate always looking out after you. It might help you sometimes, but other times it will leave you high and dry. Kinda like some plastic polygons we see so often. What: Luck can do anything from nudge a roll to allowing you to drink a potion you didn’t think about before combat. If there is a situation where you say “Had we slowed down we would have known to do that.” or “It is only reasonable that someone would have done this.” Welcome to a standard luck check. Where: At the gaming table . . . this section didn’t really work out. When: After rolling a dice; but before you know the outcome, or any time you need to convince me, your Dungeon Master, to allow you to have done something retroactively. Allow you to dodge Death. Why: It is a simple tool, for me to allow you the players to get those moments that you REALLY want/need, it can also simply prevent a fight/argument. Why should I make a risky call, when you can roll the dice and see how they like you? How: Well that is the nitty gritty. Lets go into almost extensive detail. Q: How does the party get luck? A: Originally the party gets luck by some math I do during your character creation. There are things you pick that affect the numbers of the math involved. Its sounds technically but since you don’t really need to know that since you cannot affect this in any way shape or form. I’ll spare you the boring...I pick a stat of yours, average it with the group, times it by 5 and...voila, the groups luck pool. Q: Can we get more luck? A: At the start of every session I roll a d%, if this number is higher than your current luck pool than the parties luck pool increases by 1d12. Q: How much luck do we have? A: That is for me to know and you to never find out. DM’s gotta have our secrets. Q: What can luck be used for? A: Luck can be spent in a number of ways
Last Notes: So you should have noticed that you get luck at the start of every session, and have a lot of things you can spend luck on. You, the group, should be using luck, but not so much that you cannot use it for when you really need it. So keep a balance, or don’t. It is yours to do with you please. “Don’t press your luck.” – Irish Proverb Things are about to get dicey! 🎲🎲🎲

Sure you have your tickets but then what?
Planning on wearing a cosplay or two (or more)? Are you staying at an hotel? What are you going to eat and when? What panels will you be attending? I am currently planning to attend my 7th Anime Nebraskon and there are plenty of things I have learned over the years. 1) Use Cosplay Tutorial's checklist for a semi-completed packing list. 2) If you have a hotel reservation, but sure to check and double check their room amenities. My room last year did not have a microwave or a fridge, so I brought my own microwave (bring 3 prong adapter if needed) and cooler. Nothing says poor planning like everyone going to the main lobby to heat up Cup Ramen in the only microwave. 3) Regularly scheduled naps and meals are majorly important!! I totally understand that you don't want to miss out on any of the action, but you don't want to be cranky, low on energy or experience other health issues while on your mini vacation. Also bring granola bars and other protein filled snacks along in a fanny pack or in your pockets for quick pick-me ups. *Mini tip: Dehydration leads to UTIs, which you can prevent and treat with...drinking water 4) NO ONE LIKE NERD SMELL!! Take time to attend to your personal hygiene! Shower in the morning and at night. Bring baby wipes and powder for quick touch ups. Gum is your friend. Deodorant is your husband/wife. AXE and other body sprays are to be used very, very, very sparingly. 5) Keep track of your friends. Everyone might split up into different panels or events and you don't want to scourer an entire convention center searching for your bestie (speaking from experience). Create a group chat on your phone (always have a charger with you/ phone numbers written down), have a designated meeting place, create schedules, ect. No one gets left behind. 6) Cosplay is NOT consent! Shouldn't have to be said, but some people just can't grasp the concept of personal space. Counts for both men and women! No touching without expressed permission, no stalking, no unsolicited photos/videos. In other words don't be a creeper. If you see a creeper, report them! Tell Convention Staff and Security as soon as possible. 7) When moving down the hallways between panels and you spot a familiar face and you want to have a chit chat, take a photo of an amazing cosplay (or having people stop you for photos), or tie your shoe....take it to the side walls. Nothing is more infuriating than people and their props trying to detour around a human road block along with hundreds of other people. It's possible, but not efficient. Be kind, move to the side. So there you have it, a few tips and tricks to get you through your weekend. Keep in mind this merely just a quick list of items, I'm sure other con-goers can provide more in the comments below or direct you to other sites. Can't wait to see party with you! ~Red Ninja Greetings Kommunity!

Here we are in the Golden Age of Technology. Where we can communicate with each other through text, sound and video instantly across the planet. Where the world's knowledge is accessible at our fingertips with just a few taps. Where flying cars...still aren't a reality (Strange). Anyway we just wanted to inform you all that we are now holding Online Movie Nights!! Our Ultimate Goal here at Off Kilter is to one day host movie nights and other activities in our own facility. However that dream is still in the making (Donations help make our dream come true). So we figured this way, we can all cozy up in our pajamas and still hang out together. This is possible through Rabb.it! "Rabbit is a web-based service that brings us together. By staying connected with friends without being in the same room (or even the same city!) who are into the same things you love to watch. " Which means we can have Studio Ghibli Saturdays, Marvel Movie Mondays, Rick and Morty Binge Watch Weekends, or whatever punny entertainment days we want! You can sign up with a Facebook or Google account and chill in our video room at Off Kilter's Room! Added bonus: Our room comes with chat so we can comment and talk while watching.
